Bonhams will auction the estate of Lauren Bacall in March 2015.
The actress died in August of this year, leaving behind an art and jewelry collection estimated at $3 million. The estate includes art from Henry Moore, Robert Graham, Joan Miró, Picasso, and a large collection of African tribal art. Jewelry, couture, and Louis Vuitton and Goyard luggage will also be on offer.
The jewelry collection includes three pieces by Jean Schlumberger: a gold and blue enamel bangle bracelet (estimated at $20,000–$30,000); an aquamarine and turquoise ring (estimated at $8,000–$12,000); and a pair of earrings (estimated at $7,000–$9,000).
“Bonhams is extremely honored to represent the estate of Lauren Bacall at auction,” said Jon King, Bonhams’ vice president and director of business development. “Ms. Bacall has been not only an international treasure to the public at large but also a longtime friend to Bonhams over the years. We are looking forward to providing the public with a rare glimpse into Ms. Bacall’s formidable collecting sense and intuitive style.”
