Anna Martin Leaves Standard Chartered Bank, Joins GIA

Anna Martin, who oversaw diamond and jewelry lending at both Standard Chartered Bank and ABN AMRO, has joined GIA as senior vice president of global development.

“Martin will be responsible for broadening and deepening GIA’s relationships with clients and stakeholders and overseeing the Institute’s global beneficiation efforts,” said a statement.

She will be based in New York City, and starts her new position Sept. 2.

A Standard Chartered media contact did not answer a query from JCK at press time regarding Martin’s departure. She first joined the bank in 2008 to establish a diamond and jewelry lending divison.

This is GIA’s second recent high-profile hire of late. The organization previously recruited former State Department official Brad Brooks-Rubin as global director of development and beneficiation.

Martin served on the GIA Board of Governors from 1997 to 2011, and has also been active in the Women’s Jewelry Association and the Diamond Empowerment Fund.

GIA also announced the appointment of Rohit Tandon as chief human resources officer. He joins the company from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, where he oversaw programs in 34 countries, treating more than 300,000 patients.

In addition, several GIA executives received promotions. Chief learning officer Bev Hori, chief marketing officer Kathryn Kimmel, and chief financial officer David Tearle have all been named senior vice presidents. Corporate counsel Jennifer Wilson has been promoted to vice president and was elected corporate secretary at the May 2014 Board of Governors meeting.
