Antitrust Authorities Don’t Object to Signet-Zale Deal

Antitrust authorities are letting Signet’s acquisition of Zale go forward, the two companies announced.

The Federal Trade Commission has allowed the merger’s Hart-Scott-Rodino Act waiting period to expire. During that time, the transaction cannot close while regulators review the deal. The period can be extended if more information is required.

But authorities did not issue any requests for additional documents or data, says Signet spokesman David Bouffard.

The merger remains subject to Zale stockholder approval and other conditions.
