Kara Ross New York Debuts Flagship Boutique

On Nov. 12, on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, Kara Ross of the eponymous jewelry line celebrated the opening of her first standalone boutique, which opened to the public the next day. Kara Ross New York is located at 655 Madison Ave., and features a creamy color palette, antique nickel mirrors, and tone-on-tone, neutral lacquer and lucite details for texture—all of which serve as a soft backdrop for the designer’s exotic leather bags and gold and silver jewels. The storefront, meanwhile, bears a banner of faceted stone silhouettes, affixed with the Kara Ross moniker, above the entry, as well as a glass window allowing a peek inside. And to the right of the entry: a massive backlit image of a wavy-haired blond (a nod to the designer herself?) whose knuckles nearly sag under the weight of oversize gemstone rings on each digit. The store’s opening helps to mark the 10th anniversary of Ross’ business, and the space was designed by Tony Ingrao, an interiors and architectural artist whose work has appeared in Architectural Digest and Elle magazine.

“The inspiration for the space in many ways reflects my style and use of mixed and unexpected materials,” Ross, a graduate gemologist, told the media this week in a release.
