CIBJO, RJC Sign New Agreement

CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, and the Responsible Jewellery Council—two groups that have historically had disputes—have signed an agreement to work together to advance responsible business practices all along the jewelry supply chain.

The coordinated effort, agreed to on Sept. 1 at the International Jewellery London Show, will include using the RJC’s chain of custody certification program as well as corporate social responsibility education programs CIBJO developed in collaboration with the United Nations.

The groups’ agreement will establish a working group, headed by CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri and RJC chairman James Courage, RJC’s chairman—to develop synergies between the two groups.
