Hamilton Jewelers to Close Lawrenceville Store, Expand Princeton Flagship

Hamilton Jewelers will close its location in Lawrenceville, N.J., after 40 years to make room for a renovation and expansion of its Princeton flagship store.

“We’ve been gradually looking to consolidate in order to develop a bigger, grander flagship to better serve our customers,” says Donna Bouchard, vice president of Hamilton Jewelers. “We’re looking to add boutiques and more client services.”

Bouchard says it is too early in the liquidation process to determine the future of the Lawrenceville store’s employees, but that the company “wants to find a good solution for everyone.”

The retail chain is liquidating the Lawrenceville store’s inventory, and will hold a brief store closing sale starting April 18. The store will be closed April 13–15 to prepare for the sale.

“Speaking for the Hamilton family, we offer a sincere thanks to all of you who have made Hamilton’s Lawrenceville location successful for 40 years,” said Hank Siegel, president of Hamilton Jewelers, in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to serve you in Princeton, Red Bank, and Palm Beach, but most importantly, we hope to see you at our exclusive sale so we may thank you personally for your business over the years.”

According to a local news report, two daytime robberies in 2012 and 2011 were not a determining factor in the decision to close the location.

“This decision was not made under any constraints other than to better serve our clients’ needs,” Siegel told The Times of Trenton
