Blue Nile Chief Accounting Officer to Resign

Terri Maupin, chief accounting officer of Blue Nile, will resign from her position effective July 1.

“Terri Maupin is resigning from Blue Nile as she seeks greater responsibilities at other public or private companies,” said Blue Nile in a company statement sent to JCK. “We are grateful for her immense contributions to making Blue Nile the world’s largest online jeweler and wish her the best in the next phase of her career.”

Blue Nile also announced it will release its fourth quarter and full year financial results on Feb. 12. The company posted a 19.8 sales increase in the third quarter and a 12 percent increase in non-engagement jewelry, but its profits dropped 7.3 percent to $1.7 million. Blue Nile CEO Harvey Kanter acknowledged that turning the site into more of a non-engagement and fashion jewelry destination has been “difficult,” but that the strategy is part of a 30-month plan that won’t pay off until 2014.
