Signet’s Holiday Sales Rise 4.7%



Signet’s same-store U.S. holiday sales rose 4.7 percent, the company announced.

According to a presentation posted on Signet’s website, holiday comp sales at Kay Jewelers rose 5.8 percent. Comps at Jared The Galleria of Jewelry rose 4.8 percent, which significantly improves on the division’s year-to-date figure of 1.2 percent. Same-store sales at the company’s regional brands declined 4 percent.

U.K. same-store sales dropped 2.6 percent. Overall same store sales for the company rose 3.3 percent.

“During the holiday season in the U.S., we experienced broad-based strength across our merchandise offerings led by our initiatives in bridal, branded, and exclusive merchandise, colored diamonds, fashion jewelry, and watches,” said CEO Mike Barnes in a statement. “In the U.K., watches and branded jewelry were the strongest performers.”

“We saw particularly strong performance in the weeks and days leading up to Christmas,” he added. “In addition, we are pleased with the pace and effectiveness of the Ultra Stores integration, and the results continue to be in line with our expectations.”
