$3 Million Pearl Necklace Highlights Christie’s New York Auction

A rare double strand natural pearl necklace, expected to sell for $2.8 million–$3.5 million, is among the highlights Christie’s New York Oct. 6 Magnificent Jewels sale.

Other highlights of the two-session “Mega” Diamonds and Rare Natural Pearls sale include a trio of diamonds weighing more than 50 cts. each.

Among the diamonds are a 117.04 ct. pair of diamond earrings (est. $4.5 million–$6.5 million), a 50.52 ct. pear-shape diamond pendant necklace (estimate on request), and a 68.35 ct. oval-cut fancy intense yellow flawless diamond (est. $2.2 million–$3.2 million).

Signed jewels are also represented, including a ruby and diamond bracelet by Van Cleef & Arpels (est. $100,000–$150,000).

“In anticipation of a continued strong market this autumn, our team of jewelry specialists has spent the summer months gathering the finest gems to match current collecting tastes, including top-quality diamonds, natural pearls, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, rare vintage jewels, and highly-coveted contemporary creations from the best designers,” Rahul Kadakia, head of jewelry for Christie’s Americas and Switzerland, said in a statement.
