12-Year-Old Entrepreneur Starts Online Jewelry Business

Gabrielle Jordan Williams founded her own jewelry company, Jewelz of Jordan, in 2009 when she was only 9 years old.

The young entrepreneur began making jewelry when she was just 7 years old. “I’ve always loved jewelry,” Williams tells JCK. “I used to go through my grandmother and mother’s jewelry boxes.”

After wearing one of her creations to school, she caught the attention of a classmate who asked to purchase the ring. Encouraged by her mother, she started creating more jewelry and turned her line into an online business. “My parents help me out in the business,” Williams says. “My mom inspired me to create the line.”

The Jewelz of Jordan online shop sells handmade pieces designed by Williams, including the “Mommy & Me” collection, featuring matching jewelry for mothers and daughters.

“I would describe my jewelry as classy and elegant,” Williams says. “I use a lot of pearls and Swarovski crystals.”

In addition to her jewelry business, the middle school student also wrote a published book, which is sold on her website and on Amazon.com. Titled The Making Of A Young Entrepreneur, the book is a guide to achieving success at a young age. Part of its profits are donated to charity.

Williams has big hopes for the future, and is inspired by the philosophy, “Don’t be a spectator of your own dreams.” She hopes to have her jewelry line manufactured, sell her line in boutiques, and become a bestselling author. Her other goals include becoming a millionaire when she turns 15 years old, designing jewelry for celebrities, studying at the Gemological Institute of America, and continuing her philanthropic efforts.

Although Williams doesn’t have a lot of free time, when she is finished with her homework, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and surfing YouTube to learn more about the art of jewelry making.

“I believe that you have to go after what you want in life,” Williams says.
