JewelPops Sues Helzberg, Claiming It’s Copied Kameleon

JewelPops launched another lawsuit on Sept. 30, this time charging Helzberg Diamonds has infringed on its Kameleon line.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court, District of Maine, calls Helzberg’s “Pop Expressions” line “confusingly similar” to Kameleon.

“Helzberg copied many of JewelPops’ copyrighted jewelry pieces and designs, its JEWELPOPS and POP trademarks, and the overall look and feel of JewelPops that makes it instantly recognizable to consumers,” the company charged.

The suit seeks an injunction against the Helzberg line and other damages.

Helzberg could not be reached for comment at press time.

JewelPops in August sued Royal Chain over its Karisma line. That case is still pending, but Royal Chain has denied the charges in a court filing and called the case “frivolous.”
