BHP Changes Diamond Marketing Team

BHP Billiton announced March 23 that Chris Ryder, head of the company’s diamond marketing unit in Antwerp, will relocate to Canada to lead its external affairs group.

Ryder will be responsible for external communications, government relations, and community and aboriginal affairs, as the company aims to develop a potash business in Saskatchewan.  Plans include BHP Billiton’s Jansen Project, which is intended to be Saskatchewan’s first new conventional potash mine in 30 years.

Niels Wage will replace him as vice president of marketing for diamonds and specialty products.

Wage will also be responsible for building a new potash marketing unit for BHP Billiton and will be based in Singapore.
