APPOINTMENTS

Andrew D. Hepworth was appointed national sales manager of Michou, Homewood, Cal., which handcrafts art-inspired collections of sterling silver, 22k gold vermeil and gemstone jewelry. He will explore and develop new markets and reinforce Michou’s position in the designer bridge jewelry market.

L&R Manufacturing Co., Kearny, N.J., named Bernard W. Sessman senior vice president of sales and marketing. He was formerly with Miele’s Professional Products Group.

After 12 years with Simon Golub & Sons in Seattle, Wash., Daryl Shamitoff was promoted to senior vice president. He will head a new international division while retaining his responsibilities for marketing and major accounts.

Style Jewelry Inc., Miami, Fla., named Steve Smolin vice president of sales and marketing. Style is a joint venture of British Diamond Import Co., Brilliants International Inc. and Goldmine Ent. Inc., and is manufacturing in Bangkok.

Julie Arvidson was promoted to vice president of merchandising of Rogers LTD Inc., Middletown,Ohio.

Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co. added Thomas Adelmann as personal lines manager and J. Andrew Koehn as personal lines marketing representative. Adelmann will manage the day-to-day operations of the personal jewelry insurance department and help to coordinate the department’s long-term planning and marketing efforts. Koehn will lead the marketing efforts of the company’s personal jewelry insurance program.

The Gemological Institute of America appointed Harry Stubbert vice president of GIA GEM Instruments. He was formerly employed by GIA’s education and marketing departments and left GIA in the late 1980s to become a retail jeweler.

Jay Richman was named president of Spectrum Properties Group, and James K. Weiss and Joseph Cortese were named vice presidents. Spectrum recently completed the renovation and redevelopment of the Jeweler’s Center at the Mallers Building in Wabash, Ill. The one-time office building was transformed into a 21-story, 277,229-sq.-ft. building housing 165 wholesale and retail jewelers. Spectrum also recently consolidated all its real estate services, which include in-house construction, security, leasing, property management and marketing for office and retail development.

AWARDS

Danny Beaver, Oklahoma territory manager of the ArtCarved high school class ring division, won the ArtCarved Award of Excellence, which recognizes outstanding performance and major contributions to the company.
