Pearl Association Welcomes Retailers

The Cultured Pearl Association of America (CPAA), the nation's longest-standing national trade group for pearls, has announced plans to open its membership to retailers. In a recent vote, the 54-year-old association unanimously accepted bylaw changes that would allow retailers into the group via a special associate membership status. Previously, association membership had been reserved for importers and wholesale suppliers of cultured pearls and cultured pearl products. The association began accepting membership requests from retailers in June 2001. In addition to in-showcase plaques and door decals displaying their membership affiliation, retailers will receive a marketing kit containing educational and promotional tools, including videos, CD ROMs, and booklets, all designed to help them increase pearl sales.
