NAJA’s Appraisal Scholarship, Web Feature

The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers wants students of gemology to know that becoming a gems and jewelry professional appraiser is a viable career option. So NAJA is offering Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (FGA), Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Australia (FGAA), Fellowship of the German Gemmological Association (FGG), and Fellow of the Canadian Gemmological Association (FCGmA) students who want to explore a possible career in jewelry appraising a scholarship that will cover the admission fee to NAJA’s 25th Annual Winter Education Conference, scheduled for Jan. 30–31, 2006, in Tucson, Ariz., during the Tucson gem and mineral shows.

Deadline for submission is Nov. 1. Applications for the scholarship are available on NAJA’s Web site. The NAJA advisory board will announce the final selection by Dec. 1.

In other NAJA news, its Web site has a new button to push. NAJA’s annual survey revealed that members wanted to be included on the site. Now consumers can click on the “Find an Appraiser” button to see the member list, organized by state and city, and alphabetically by members. The list includes members’ phone numbers and NAJA designations. Definitions of the different levels of membership are accessed from a drop-down menu.
