Management Software Adds Repair Method

“The Edge” management software by Ibis Jewelry Systems has added the “David Geller Repair Method,” allowing jewelers to manage both inventory and a bench shop.

Geller, known for the Repair and Design Price Book, says tracking is a major feature of the new module and notes that jewelers can run a report of all jobs due over a certain period of time to ensure that due dates are met. He also says the software allows jewelers to track the location of every job instantly and even send out thank-you cards to customers with sales on repairs.

“The David Geller Repair Method” is available only in conjunction with “The Edge,” which allows retail jewelers to analyze and monitor all aspects of their businesses, particularly return on investment and customer relations. The system automates point of sale, inventory control, customer lists, mailings, special orders, advertising analysis, and accounting and can also help create an ideal inventory. The software provides reports that identify surpluses or shortages in inventory and overages in old stock or product in the wrong price range. It also helps retailers maximize relationships with customers by maintaining comprehensive customer histories and creating targeted mailing lists based on buying habits.

“The Edge” supports wired and wireless networks and multiple storefronts. It sells for $3,195 for a single computer and costs $750 to license additional computers. The price includes training for one person per store and a year’s worth of technical support. Veteran or new users of “The Edge can purchase the “David Geller Repair Method” module for $295.
