It’s Official: Tony Hall Leaving House

The jewelry industry won’t have Tony Hall to be kicked around by anymore.

In February, President Bush appointed Hall (D-Ohio), the main congressional player on conflict diamonds, to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations food and agriculture agencies in Rome. The Senate unanimously approved his nomination in July.

Hall leaves with his conflict diamond legislation overwhelmingly approved by the House. The legislation is stalled in the Senate.
