Clarksville Jeweler Assists Military Families

Bill Sites, owner of Sites Jewelry in Clarksville, Tenn., recently joined other local business owners and citizens to help military families posted at Fort Campbell, Ky. Serving as co-chair of the Military Affairs Committee of the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, Sites played a key role in giving “Operation Eagle’s Nest” its wings.

Sites and other community leaders set out to create a fund to support organizations that assist families of soldiers assigned to Fort Campbell. The fund evolved out of concern that some units might be overlooked in the “Adopt-a-Unit” program, a sponsorship that pairs businesses with units at Fort Campbell. A minimum goal of $1 million was set for the campaign. The project was praised by Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning during a session of the U.S. Senate on March 4, 2003.
