The “Sealed With A Kiss” brooch was created by award-winning Los Angeles designer Avi Raz in honor of the 20th anniversary of the American Gem Trade Association. This depiction of a playful clown and his pet seal is the latest one-of-a-kind piece by Raz, who is known for turning unusual pearls into jeweled sculptures. In this brooch, the clown’s legs and the seal are a fancy-shape freshwater pearl, the seal’s ball is a 10.1-mm Tahitian pearl, the clown’s costume is 18k gold, his feet are black enamel, and the seal’s tail is diamond pavé. The clown’s right hand holds an 18k white gold envelope—a birthday card for AGTA—that’s been “sealed” with a kiss. His left hand holds four balloons—made of natural ruby, emerald, sapphire, and a Keshi pearl—representing the four colors of AGTA. The seal balances a ruby heart on his nose.
