A Different Approach to Knockoffs

Sure, there's always the option of chasing and suing companies that specialize in knockoffs. But, as any designer can attest, that can be a maddening, costly, and often futile process. So, when SeidenGang designer Carol Seiden saw a local celebrity wearing knockoffs on a television news program, she saw an opportunity to strengthen the SeidenGang brand. Upon being contacted by the design firm and offered the "real thing" over her knockoffs, Paula Zahn-news anchor for a Fox news program in New York-readily accepted. In a nation obsessed with brands, people in general and celebrities in particular are hungry for authenticity. Zahn (center) purchased several pieces that she now wears on the air-genuine designs from designers Carolyn Gang (left) and Carol Seiden.
