The Women’s Jewelry Association Los Angeles Chapter will host a dinner and featured guest speaker for members and guests on Wednesday, June 18 at Matteo’s Restaurant located at 2321 Westwood Blvd. in West Los Angeles.
World-renowned goldsmith and attorney Jennifer Horning (pictured) is the featured guest speaker.
The June event includes cocktails (cash bar) at 6:30 p.m.; a sit-down dinner at 7 p.m.; and a presentation on sourcing and selling environmentally friendly jewels at 8 p.m.
Cost is $65 for members with RSVP; $75 for non-members and/or guests at the door and members without RSVP. Valet parking is $7. RSVP by Friday, June 13th to lisa.schoening@gia.edu.
Horning is an attorney whose work has focused on socially conscious buying and environmentally friendly manufacturing practices for working jewelers. She is a co-founder of Ethical Metalsmiths and was a member of the steering committee for 2007’s Madison Dialogue Ethical Jewelry Summit in Washington, D.C. Horning is currently chairing the working group tasked with establishing a national standard for recycled metals. Additionally, she has counseled a variety of organizations on responsible mining practices in the U.S. and abroad.
