WJA Awards 12 Member Grants

The Women’s Jewelry Association Member Grant Program has awarded $6,000 to 12 members in the U.S. The grants provide a financial contribution for ongoing education for women in the jewelry, watch and related industries. Member Grants are available in amounts up to $500 to all WJA members who submit an application.

The 2008 recipients are: Cynthia Silwa (LA Chapter), Donna Lynn Richards (Metro Chapter), Jodi Bronstein (Midwest Chapter), Beverly Strom (Rocky Mountain Chapter), Shelia Netti (San Diego Chapter), Charlotte Stieren (Twin Cities Chapter), Michelle Anne Flynn (Northern California Chapter), Julia Behrends (New England Chapter), Constance Berry (Southeast Chapter), Kristin Novinger (Mid-Atlantic Chapter).

In addition, Judy Colbert and Vickie Riggs received chapter grants from their San Diego Chapter.

Funds for the Grants are raised by WJA in a number of different ways, according to Susan Seider, chair of the Member Grant Committee. A significant portion is generated through WJA’s Silent Auction held during its annual Awards for Excellence gala. Additional funding comes from companies and individuals who support WJA’s mission.

“These contributions have facilitated the educational goals of countless WJA grant recipients,” Seider said. “In addition, individual WJA Chapters can also sponsor local chapter grants, supported by their own fundraising efforts.”
