Well, this is extremely unpleasant news to report …
Seven wealthy filers … were accused of a slew of tax crimes yesterday for allegedly hiding more than $100 million in Swiss bank accounts …
Others charged include Ernest Vogliano, the 79-year-old owner of Il Vagabondo restaurant on the Upper East Side, and Richard Werdiger, 62, owner of the Michael Werdiger jewelry company in Midtown.
Werdiger is an extremely well-respected company, and a sightholder, and we wish them well. Someone posted the legal papers here.
UPDATE: According to this account, Werdiger has pled “not guilty.”
