Perhaps the best time in Baselworld this year was had by visitors to the booth of British jewelry designer, Stephen Webster. The longtime jeweler with fans like Madonna held tea leaf readings–complete with a tent in his booth and a genie costume–to mark the launch of his Astro Balls collection featuring zodiac-sign motifs.
Leave it to Webster to generate such buzz, enthusiasm, and brand excitement around a new product launch. Webster is not only a talented jeweler–the craftsmanship of his work is impressive–but he is the antithesis of what most associate with the fine jewelry industry; he looks like he’s having fun, and encourages others to do so.
The Webster brand is youthful and edgy with its rock ‘n’ roll vibe, current thanks to marketing campaigns featuring Cristina Aguilera, and accessible due to entry price points of just over $200. Of course, Webster’s own image (think rock star) helps. And wait until you see his genie costume …

Webster’s Astro Balls collection features oversize sterling silver and gold-plate pendants with Swarovski crystals on long chains. Retail prices start at $500.

A big thanks to Webster and his team for letting JCK film a private reading, and for sharing his inspiration for Astro Balls with our readers.
And if you want Webster to bring his readings to Las Vegas this year, please do weigh in on the comment function.
