Ulla Wolff has been named assistant general counsel of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee. In this newly created position Wolff will participate in all aspects of JVC’s programs, most prominently in JVC’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Services. She will also administer the JVC Precious Metals Testing Facility.

Hank Siegel, JVC president, made the announcement on Wednesday.

Wolff served as a district attorney in her native Austria after graduating from the University of Vienna School of Law. She earned a LL.M. law degree at New York University School of Law in 2003. This past July, she sat for the New York State Bar Exam. In addition, Wolff is a Graduate Gemologist, having graduated from Gemological Institute of America in July 2002. “The appointment of Ulla Wolff to assistant general counsel, JVC, will increase our capacity to educate and support the industry,” said Cecilia L. Gardner, JVC’s executive director & general counsel. “She will help handle the increasing caseload in dispute resolution, compliance counseling and industry monitoring. Her specialized skill set—law and gemology—will expand JVC’s ability to respond to industry needs.”

Says Wolff: “I am looking forward to applying my gemological expertise and international legal knowledge to support JVC’s legal department, especially with mediation and legal compliance.”
