The International Colored Gemstone Association said several more delegations have confirmed their participation in the inaugural ICA International Gem Show Dubai 2008, set for Oct. 13-15.
Fazil Ozen, president of the Gemstone Dealers Association of Turkey and ICA’s Ambassador to Turkey, confirmed that he will head up a group of buyers on a visit to the trade fair, which is organized by ICA.
MUTAD was established in 2006 in order to encourage confidence in gemstone trading through providing information, education, protecting consumer confidence and promoting cooperation between its members.
“A gem show focusing on ethical trade is a very important need for the market. I am sure the ICA Gem Show will be one of the top gemstone shows in the world and will be a great source for serious companies who would like to meet real suppliers. Turkish jewelers who uses large quantities of gemstones are looking forward to improving their trading through this important event,” Ozen said.
Other delegations from China, India, and Russia have also confirmed participation from leaders in their respective industries.
The ICA Gem Show is held under the patronage of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, a Dubai government initiative created to establish a commodity market place in Dubai providing industry-specific market infrastructure and facilities. Dubai is rapidly becoming recognized as the gateway for commodities to the Middle East and as an international trading hub.
Booth space in the show is nearly sold out. Exhibitors from 19 countries including Australia, Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Tanzania, Thailand, and the U.S., will display loose gemstones, pearls, and finished jewelry.
The fair will be held in the five-star venue, the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel. For information on exhibiting or visiting, contact ica@gemstone.org or fax 1-212-352-9054.
