Three Canadian diamond firms will distribute Canadian diamonds

Longtime diamond industry firms, Beny Sofer & Sons, Rosy Blue, and Backes & Strauss have formed a global partnership called Tri-Star Worldwide, LLC. The new company will distribute Canadia brand arctic-mined diamonds throughout the world.

“Tri-Star Worldwide is now the global leader in certified Canadian-mined diamonds,” said Oren Sofer, CEO, Tri-Star Worldwide.

All of the diamonds for the Canadia brand will be supplied by Arslanian Cutting Works NWT, a Rosy Blue affiliate in Yellowknife, The Northwest Territories (NWT), Canada, and the largest diamond-cutting factory there. Following the 1998 discovery of rich diamond resources, the NWT’s Gross Domestic Product grew from $2 million to $30 million. The area is expected to be producing 10% of the world diamond output by 2004, the company said in a statement.

Rosy Blue is a 40-year family-owned diamond company doing business in 14 countries. Founded in Antwerp in 1789, Backes & Straus is the world’s oldest diamond company and supplies more than 40 markets worldwide. Canadia brand founder Beny Sofer & Sons has done business on 47th Street’s historic Diamond District in New York City for more than 30 years.
