Thom Underwood Named 2012 Antonio C. Bonanno Award Winner

The Accredited Gemologists Association will award jeweler Thom Underwood the 2012 Antonio C. Bonanno Award at a ceremony during its winter Tucson Conference on Feb. 1.

Underwood is currently the director of the San Diego Gemological Laboratory, an appraisal firm he started in 1978.

The Antonio C. Bonanno award—named in honor of the AGA’s founding father—was created to recognize people who have made significant contributions to the gemological field. The award, which includes a check for $2,000, not only calls attention to the outstanding contributions of the recipient, but also underscores the responsibility of the international gemological community to encourage and reward ongoing research, education, and dissemination of information.

The award will be presented at AGA’s Gala Dinner Dance at the conclusion of its Tucson Conference at the Marriott University Park Hotel. For additional information, visit accreditedgemologists.org or call 619-501-5444.
