This One Goes to Eleven

In my on-going (read: two post) coverage of all things U.S. Open (read: Williams sisters-related) I would like to let the JCK readership know about eleVen.

eleVen is the newest venture of Venus Williams, the senior Williams sister, and the initial 120 piece collection will be sold exclusively in Steve & Barry’s stores starting in November

You may be thinking to yourself, great another celebrity fashion label, but aside from her on court credentials Venus is also working toward a degree in fashion design at the Art Institute of Florida. “I have always been into fashion,” Venus says. “There are a lot of celebrities who are into fashion, but I actually go to school for it.” She also heads up her own own Jupiter, Fla.-based interior design firm, V Starr Interiors

(All of that notwithstanding, Venus may simply be taking a page out of her younger sister Serena Williams‘ book, who is the brains behind Aneres.)

Included in the line will be performance apparel, loungewear, accessories and footwear. Looks will include cool sneakers, velour tracksuits, pleated tennis skirts, fleece jackets, graphic T-shirts and even sports socks and bras. Sneaker styles are named after tennis terms such as Ace, Deuce, Swing and the V-Court is pictured above. All pieces, sneakers included will be priced at $19.98 and under, as is the Steve and Barry’s way.

Click here to find a Steve and Barry’s near you where you can camp out until the line drops in November.

The name eleVen ” … was part of my address growing up in Compton [Calif.]. It also represents the top of the top, because people always say, one out of 10, but it’s an 11. You can be more than your best in eleVen.”

The This is Spinal Tap nature of the quote above aside, we here at JCK wish Venus all the best with her new line.
