In a patriotic response to the U.S. war in Iraq, the Maurice, La., design house of Vivian Alexander, has created the “Freedom Purse.”

Designed in the company’s signature egg-shape, the purse is adorned with translucent red, white, and blue baked enamel colors and imbedded with sparking mica designed to reflect light when moved. The purse’s inner lining is made of Chinese sand-washed silk. The purse also includes a large beveled mirror mounted on top and a detachable 48-in. gold shoulder strap.
