Taggart Named President of Victorinox Swiss Army

J. Merrick “Rick” Taggart has been named president Victorinox Swiss Army, Inc., replacing Sue Rechner who resigned last week. Taggart was formerly the president and chief executive officer of VSA from 1995 through 2001. Since 2001 Taggart has managed a number of entrepreneurial ventures as well as taught at Mesa State College, Grand Junction, Colo., as a professor of marketing.

“Rick Taggart was a key contributor to the positive growth the company experienced during his tenure, and I am confident that his passion for the brand and his knowledge of our products will be the foundation for continued success of the VSA team” said Charles Elsener, president Victorinox AG. Elsener added that Taggart will continue the company’s current strategies.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to return to an iconic brand for a second time, Taggart said. While there has been tremendous growth and innovation, Victorinox Swiss Army’s commitment to quality, precision and inspired design has remained consistent.  I look forward to leading the company to continued success.”

Taggart will report to Charles Elsener and will be based in the VSA North American headquarters in Shelton, Conn.
