Stuller will hold its annual Bench Jeweler Workshop at its Lafayette, La., headquarters from March 23 to March 25, 2018.
The three-day event will feature more than a dozen educational classes, product demonstrations, and the third annual Battle of the Benches competition.
This year, the workshop will include new classes on screening lab-grown diamonds, basic gemstone identification, social media photography, and digital technology, as well as a report on consumers and the retail market from Jewelers of America. Presenters will include engraver Sam Alfano; master goldsmiths Kelly Williams and Jason Chandler; and jeweler Dana Fawbush.
The Battle of the Benches is a real-time design contest where four bench jewelers vie for honors in three categories: design; parts and pieces; and prep and polish. In order to be considered for participation in the competition this year, jewelers must submit a CAD design and a short biography by Feb. 2.
Selections will be made by Feb. 16 and, if chosen, each jeweler will receive up to $500 in travel expenses, complimentary event registration for themselves and a guest, and free accommodation offered by Stuller. Would-be competitors can submit materials via this form.
