Star Gazers: H.Stern Launches Copernicus Collection

On Tuesday in Manhattan, press and buyers—Saks Fifth Avenue merchandisers were there when JCK arrived—alike convened in a second-floor loft space at the H.Stern
store on Fifth Avenue to learn about the brand-new Copernicus Collection.

Inspired by the universe and the work of astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus,
H.Stern created a collection honoring the scientist (1473–1543). Based on his research, Copernicus revealed his heliocentric theory,
which states that the sun is the center of the universe and that other
stars revolve around it—a radical idea for the time, but one that was confirmed a century later by Galileo Galilei.

To H.Stern, women are the center of the
universe and have an “absolute power of attraction on other celestial bodies,”
according to a prepared statement. “It is the woman who shines and female
constellations that determine the paths of the world,” states the brand. “To enhance the sparkle
and beauty of the woman, our designers have sought inspiration from celestial
spheres, the stars, and the sky as described by Copernicus to create this
collection bearing his name.”

Styles available for wholesale are those rendered
in Noble gold with negative space and interconnected nets of diamond-studded
stars on rings, and as orbs hanging from delicate yellow gold chain necklaces
and earrings. Statement pieces in 18k yellow gold, meanwhile, will be available
for purchase in H.Stern stores. The entire collection is available as of
October 2011, and suggested retail prices start at $1,200.
