A jeweler in San Diego, Calif. fell victim to a smash-and-grab theft just
before store opening Dec. 27.
San Diego Police Department public information officer Gary Hassen tells JCK that around 8:30 a.m., a suspect
broke into Roberes Jewelry, smashed a showcase, took an undetermined amount of
jewelry, and ran away.
Hassen says that the police report indicated the items were not locked away.
“I would suggest to jewelers that they secure their higher-end jewelry before
the end of the day,” he says.
Police were able to obtain video surveillance and Hassen says detectives are
continuing to investigate.
