I had a lengthy,
photo-intensive blog post prepared and ready to post this morning, when last
night Hermosa Beach was hit with a power blackout that knocked my computer for
a loop. Pressing the start button produced no response whatsoever.  This morning I detached the machine
from its web of wires and brought it to my local electronics store for repair,
which, I am told, may take up to a week. 

Rather than whine about the
interruption to my carefully planned schedule of blog posts, I’ve decided to
focus on a different message gratuitously provided by the power outage:

Sometimes even technology
itself reminds us to slow down and savor the moment.

I was struck by a beautiful
ad produced by Tiffany & Co. for the holiday season, showing a pair of
lovers having coffee outside a café as snow lightly falls.  They are seated together oh-so-close
and are about to kiss.  Under the
table the man holds a Tiffany blue box. Could the image be any more romantic? 

Amidst all the hubbub of the
holiday season, let us savor each moment of romance and expression of
appreciation, every gift given and received with love.  These are the moments we will forever
hold in our hearts.
