Signet Group plc, the world’s largest specialty retail jeweler, said that same-store sales rose by 3.6% in the fourth quarter. Total sales at the London-based retail jeweler were up 6.1% at constant exchange rates. At actual exchange rates, when taking into account the weak U.S. dollar, sales increased by 0.5% to $1.2 billion.
In the U.S., same-store sales rose by 4.7% in the fourth quarter. For the year, same-store sales rose 5.9%.
In the U.K., same-store sale rose by 1.4% for the quarter and 3% for the year.
Signet operates 1,758 specialty retail jewelry stores at; including 1,156 stores in the U.S., where the Group trades as “Kay Jewelers,” “Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry,” and under a number of regional names. The company operates 602 stores in the U.K., where the Group trades as “H.Samuel,” “Ernest Jones,” and “Leslie Davis”.
