Seiko Corp. of America gets new president

Toyoji Todaka has been named the new president and chief executive officer of Seiko Corp. of America. His appointment was effective July 1. SCA is a subsidiary of Seiko Watch Corp., headquartered in Tokyo.

Todaka has been with Seiko, one of the world’s largest watchmakers, for over 20 years. During that time, he has held a number of marketing and sales positions. Most recently he was responsible for licensed watch sales in Asia and Europe.

Todaka replaces Tsutomu Mitome, who left in May to be chairman of the new Seiko Watch Corp. (a subsidiary of Seiko Corp.) which handles manufacturing and marketing of all Seiko watches worldwide, including the Seiko, Pulsar by Seiko and Spoon By Seiko brands. Seiko is one of the globe’s best-selling watch brands and a popular seller in U.S. jewelry and department stores.
