Second Arrest in Michigan Jewelry Store Murders

Dimitri AndersonA second person has been arrested for the for the July 2 murder of an owner and customer in a Grand Haven, Mich., jewelry store, a local newspaper reports.

Police announced Wednesday morning that Dimitri Anderson, 39, was charged as a co-conspirator in the robbery of R.K. Jewelers and the shooting deaths of the store’s owner and a customer on July 2, the Grand haven Tribune reports. He is the younger brother of Darick O’Brien Anderson, 42, who has been in jail since July 5 in connection with the murders.

The business owner, Bob Karell, 61, and a customer, Louis Paparella, 77, were found shot to death inside the store.

Dimitri Anderson was charged in an Ottawa County court with two counts of open murder, one count of armed robbery, and a fourth-offense habitual criminal charge. He demanded a court-appointed attorney is being held without bond in the Ottawa County Jail, the newspaper reports. A preliminary examination date was not set.
