Samuels posts same-store 10.6% half-year sales gain

Samuels Jewelers, with 101 stores in 18 states, had a 10.6% sales gain at comparable stores for June through December. For holiday period of December alone, same-store sales (on the 99 stores open in both 2003 and 2004) rose 6.2%.

“We are extremely pleased with the results of our holiday selling season and that we were able to maintain our margin in conjunction with this strong sales growth,” said Randy McCullough, Samuels president and CEO.

McCullough said that Samuels achieved a milestone on Dec. 23, when it generated the highest daily per-store sales in the company’s history. He also noted that online sales “tripled during this holiday season as compared to last year.”

Since late 2003, Samuels Jewelers has also opened four stores in its new “non-mall” prototype format. “We’re pleased with the outstanding performance of these new stores, and will continue to seek opportunities to achieve sustainable growth and further this exciting strategy,” McCullough said.
