Runway Report: Milan Handbags

This season, ladylike, top-handled bags in unique mixed materials and subtle color blocking were a mainstay of the Milan runways. In everything from simple black to fur, there’s a bag for everyone and every look. Here are the highlights:

Bulgari: Bulgari means luxury when it comes to bags, and this flap bag with chain handle is just that. This style is continued from a past season but is updated in a blue and black snakeskin.

Dolce & Gabbana: Not one to hold back, Dolce combined a fur flap with its signature gold accents. Fur was a major trend in bags this fall and this one is a decadent example.

Fendi: Fendi sent large top handle bags down the runway, like this number with side panels in calfhair in rich burgundy and golden orange. The large scale makes this a practical choice for the real woman.

Ferragamo: Astrakhan fur elevated this bag at Salvatore Ferragamo. It can be worn crossbody or as a long shoulder bag.

Gucci: Gucci mixed materials in a prim structured bag that continues the lady trend, but takes it in a darker direction with black velvet and leather.

Marni: Marni’s bags had a mod quality to them, also with top handles but smaller in scale than other designers’ and uber-matching to their respective looks. This one in red is a bright pop of color in a classic shape.

MaxMara: MaxMara showed a croc cross-body in army green, which perfectly accented its military-chic collection.

Prada: Prada’s collection of accessories is always a highpoint and this season Miuccia did not disappoint. Though I loved the baroque jewel-encrusted bags, my favorites were these graphic prints.

Tod’s: Tod’s showed a collection of bright colors and conservative designs, I love this bright fuchsia family of flap clutches.
