It didn’t
take long for someone to knock off the earrings that Kate Middleton wore on her
wedding day, and Kenneth Jay Lane for QVC can take credit.
According to QVC:
“Kenneth Jay Lane’s design team literally watched the
Royal Wedding and got on a conference call at 6 AM (ET) to discuss how they
would execute the design of the earring. The design was hand-sketched by one of
the KJL artists, faxed to Kenneth Jay Lane for review, and once finalized, was
sent to QVC for review. The sample was then hand made over the weekend and
literally driven to QVC to show on air Monday, May 2.”

Item #J260912 for $39.62—were shown at 7 p.m. last night by Host Lisa Robertson and
Barry Ort, vice president of KJL, and were made available for purchase online
as well.

These earrings are from the same design team
that offered the KJL Princess Ring (which sold more than 54,000 units) some 48
hours after news of the engagement broke. Wow. They work fast! And considering
the inspired ring sold more than 54,000 units, according to QVC, the earrings
will also probably do pretty well.
Anyone surprised at how fast KJL and QVC moved to make
this happen?
This Just In: QVC just told us that they’ve already sold 7,900 units since last night’s debut.
