Rio Tinto Names Cox as Diamond Business MD

Rio Tinto announced the appointment of Bruce Cox to the position of managing director of Rio Tinto Diamonds.

Cox will be based in London and will be responsible for all Rio Tinto’s diamond mining operations—the Argyle mine in Australia, the Diavik mine in Canada, the Murowa mine in Zimbabwe and the Bunder project in India—as well as the Antwerp based sales and marketing activities, the mining giant said in a statement.

Cox brings 28 years of experience in the resources industry having worked in Africa, North and South America, and Australia across multiple product groups, including his role as general manager Finance of Argyle Diamonds.

“I am excited to be moving back into Rio Tinto’s diamond business at this important stage in its growth and development,” Cox said.
