Rio Tinto is Lead Sponsor of India Conference

India’s Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council said Friday that Rio Tinto Diamonds joined the Indo/US Jewelry Business Development Conference as lead sponsor and confirmed that all presenting sponsorships slots for Indian jewelry manufacturers are filled.

Leading U.S. retailers and buying groups will convene at the Mumbai Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Mumbai the first week of October for two days to participate in a series of presentations, panel discussions on current status of Indo-US jewelry business and one-on-one meetings with sponsors. The retailers will then visit selected factories located in SEEPZ, Mumbai’s specially-developed state of the art business/factory complex.

“We are delighted and gratified with the excellent response to our request to host this inaugural event by Rio Tinto Diamonds and twenty of the leading jewelry manufacturers of India,” said Sanjay Kothari GJEPC chairman. “The U.S. attendees will be treated to a full spectrum of the ‘best-of-the-best’ that India has to offer in the way of finished diamond, colored stone and gold jewelry products. … Our intent is to showcase the skills and products that are now ready and able to come out of India because of the manufacturers’ creation of exciting new contemporary design studios, investment in best-in-class manufacturing techniques using the latest CAD-CAM software and technology, and a dedicated pursuit of quality control procedures and applications.”
