Ries and Trout To speak at Centurion

Al Ries and Jack Trout, best-selling authors and marketing experts, will be the keynote speakers at the 2003 Centurion Jewelry show, set for February 2-6 in Tucson, Ariz.

The two men, who worked together for 26 years but haven’t collaborated since 1994, are the authors of four best-selling marketing books. The first, Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind, was published in 1980. In 1985 they followed it up with Marketing Warfare. Both books are now published in 14 languages. In 1988, they added Bottom Up Marketing, and in 1993 their fourth book, The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing, became another best seller. It outlined the basic reasons why marketing programs succeed or fail in the competitive Nineties.

Since their amicable parting in 1994, the two have pursued separate paths. Al Ries founded and chairs Ries & Ries, with his daughter Laura, offering strategic assistance to major companies. Jack Trout is president of Trout & Partners and has offices in 13 countries with a global network of business experts. Both have published independently as well. Focus: The Future of Your Company Depends On It by Al Ries helps companies to focus on their core business for a long-term winning solution. Differentiate or Die: Survival in Our Era of Killer Competition by Jack Trout teaches companies that success is derived from what they do differently from their competitors.

The two will come together for a special dinner presentation on Monday, February 3, at the Centurion show. The following morning they will host a breakfast Q&A session, open only to Centurion attendees and exhibitors.
