The news week for retailers was a tad slower than normal,
but there’s always room for some interesting and heartwarming stories: After
buying their engagement and wedding jewelry, a Maine couple was so smitten with
their jeweler that they decided to get married in the store.… A jeweler
announced his 24th annual Christmas Open House.… Store owner Tom Duma donated a
ring as a grand prize to Mobile Meals.… A Grand Junction, Colo., jeweler
received the customary watch and clock time-resetting coverage as the nation
returned to Daylight Savings Time.… And, Tapper’s, the renowned Mich.-based
jeweler, is set to open a new store in Bay City Mall next Monday.
