Regional conference changes name, announces dates

The Jewelry Executive Conference (formerly the Heart of America Regional Conference for Jewelry Store Owners and Managers) will hold its fourth conference on March 6-7 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Overland Park, Kan.

Jewelers of America and four of its affiliates, the Kansas Jewelers Association, the Missouri Jewelers and Watchmakers Association, the Oklahoma Jewelers Association, and the Nebraska/South Dakota Jewelers Association are sponsoring the regional conference, which is held every two years. Jewelers from 11 states are expected to attend the event.

“The name has changed but the purpose stays the same,” conference chairs Lane Roberds of B.C. Clark Jewelers, Oklahoma City, and Carolyn Pope of Crews Jewelry, Grandview, Mo., said in a joint statement. “We have been told that some jewelry executives didn’t attend past conferences because they did not have a managerial title.”

Roberds said the conference will continue to be tailored for owners and managers—with educational sessions and roundtable discussions lead by industry leaders. The planning committee said it hoped that the name change will attract jewelry executives who otherwise might not attend the event.

Conference attendance is limited to the first 200 persons who register. For more information contact conference coordinators Sharon and Bill Blair at 913-661-0084 or sjblair38@kc.rr.com.
