Record Set at Antiquorum Auction



Antiquorum’s Important Collectors’ Wristwatches, Pocket Watches, Clocks & Horological Tools auction on Oct. 3-4 in Geneva included a record-setting price for a Patek Philippe watch. The platinum wristwatch, with perpetual calendar and retrograde date, was acquired for 114,000 Swiss francs.

Also sold was The Hunt clock-watch, with 13 complications, by Gideon & Co., which sold for 198,000 Swiss francs. A platinum minute-repeating carillon watch with Westminster Chimes from Edouard JeanRichard-one of only two known examples-reached 168,000 Swiss francs. A Vacheron Constantin baguette diamond-set women’s bracelet watch went for 96,000 Swiss francs, and a rare Vacheron Constantin minute-repeater eight-day desk clock went for 38,400 Swiss francs.

Tourbillon watches included the Tourbillon Skeleton, No. 00/12, from Schwarz Etienne (156,000 Swiss francs) and the Breguet Tourbillon Squelette, (132,000 Swiss francs).

Rolex watches included a Perpetual Precision (114,000 Swiss francs). A highly complicated Orrery Astrolabium Celestial Clock from Christian Van der Klaauw, Joure, reached 66,000 Swiss francs.
