Platinum Guild Joins Responsible Jewellery Council

In what appears to be a coup for the Responsible Jewellery
Council, Platinum Guild International (PGI) has joined the organization,
on
behalf of South African platinum producers.

“RJC Members have a universally understood mechanism to
demonstrate responsible practices,” James Courage, CEO of Platinum Guild
International, said in a statement. “We have joined the RJC because we believe
those we work with share these goals.”

PGI, founded in 1975, is
funded by leading South African platinum producers and fabricators.

Last May, the
RJC voted
to expand the scope of its certification system to include
platinum group metals.
