Platinum Guild International-USA will hold its 13th annual Platinum Day Symposium Saturday at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Platinum Day is a day devoted to pure platinum education. Top-ranking industry authorities in design, manufacturing, and distribution will address several issue integral to today’s trends. This year’s symposium will address technical instruction, industry issues, and sales building tactics.
The opening Keynote multi-media presentation is titled, The Celebrity Impact on the Jewelry Industry by Carol Brodie-Gelles, global director of communications, Harry Winston; Leon Hall, fashion expert and television personality; and Michael O’Connor, senior vice president of PGI-USA and one of America’s leading voices on jewelry, fashion, and accessories.
A track of programs devoted to platinum will run throughout the day. They include:
Platinum Opportunity Overview: Easy-to-implement tips and tools on how to take advantage of the high consumer demand for platinum and how to impact bottom-line sales.
Platinum Buyers Panel: Covering current platinum jewelry bridal and fashion trends.
Seven Things to Avoid When Having Your Scrap Refined: Covers how platinum is recovered from scrap and seven tips on making the most of potential returns.
Platinum Summary: Alloys, Features and Benefits: Covers the features and benefits of platinum alloys and how they are best suited for various applications.
Bench Techniques: Covers the most common platinum repair techniques and education on soldering and welding procedures.
Innovative Platinum Casting Process: Teaching a new-patented casting method that applies to a multitude of casting applications and metals, and reducing porosity.
Platinum Day will be held in collaboration with Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America and the Jeweler’s Resource Bureau during the first annual Expo New York Jewelry Conference.
