Platinum Guild International-USA is offering a series of bench seminars taught by Jurgen Maerz, PGI-USA director of Technical Education, in five cities across the U.S. The series will launch July 31 and run through Oct. 2.
Each seminar will include platinum bench techniques, advanced stone setting, advanced fabrication, and bench tips and other tricks.
The full day of seminars costs $195 with early registration and includes a networking lunch with the seminar leaders.

Maerz is a Jewelers of America Certified Master Bench Jeweler, the fourth person in the U.S. to receive this designation. He holds a Standard Designated Teaching credential from the State of California for Jewelry Making and an honorary Ph.D. in Jewelry Manufacturing Arts from Cosmopolitan University. He is responsible for the creation of the platinum educational program that the Gemological Institute of America still offers today. He is the author of the award winning book “The Platinum Bench”, and his latest book “Adventures at the Bench” a selection of “how to” articles is a monthly feature in MJSA magazine.
